Case management is a collaborative process that assists clients to establish self-management skills and strategies leading to empowerment in their lives. Some examples of this are:
- Victims services for counselling, recognition payment and immediate needs financial support
- Support after court – assessing risk – support when AVO is breached.
- Support and advocacy with Centrelink assistance
- Support and advocacy with NSW Housing – Start Safely program
- Support groups, education and therapeutic programs
- Parenting programs for attachment repair – Circle of Security workshops
- Education support leading to financial independence
- Community support partnerships for ongoing support and socialisation
At Moving Forward trauma informed practice is not “What has happened to you?” In fact, we don’t encourage women to tell their story, we take some time to get to know them and create a relationship. We ask “Who are you?” and when we find out more about them as a person we encourage them to believe in themselves and remind them of their strengths. We create a positive relationship with the women and children we support to counteract the negative relationship they have experienced. Creating meaningful connections and attachments is the most effective way to promote healing from the trauma they have experienced.
